

Kim Kyoung Pyo of Daegu and Cecilia Yap of Paranaque claimed their division’s Gold medals in the All Events of the 22nd Asian Intercity Bowling Championship in opposite fashion.
Kim was pushed to the limit by Tamuning’s Brian Manibusan as both bowlers went head on into the final game. Kim who led the All Events after the doubles portion of the tournament found himself behind after the first block of the team events by 44 pins but his consistency and persistency delivered the Gold as he was able to make up the 44 pins deficit and more. The gold medal wasn’t decided until the ninth frame of the final game when Manibusan missed a crucial spare ending the tournament eleven pins out of for the silver with Kim’s 3975 and Manibusan’s 3964. The bronze medal was claimed by Uiwang’s Kong Byoung Hee with 3852 total.
Yap trumped the women’s division being the only female participant to average over 200 pins per game, outdistancing her closest rival by a margin of 245 pins on 3841 pins, 213 average. With the gold medal out of reach, Singapore’s New Hui Fen edged out Paranaque’s Liza Clutario for the silver on a last game surge which turned a five pin deficit to a five pin victory. New finished the All Events in second with a 3596 total to Clutario’s 3591.
